MediaKind quietly powering the world’s biggest sport event and uniting the world through sports

This week, as I settled into the comfort of my home in the UK to watch the largest sports event of the year, I was joined in spirit by colleagues and friends scattered across different continents. Despite the miles that separated us, we were connected through the thrill and excitement of live sports, sharing the same experience in real-time.

MediaKind, a pioneer in the realm of media technology, played a pivotal role in making this global camaraderie possible. It’s fascinating to consider that the majority of the largest sports events are transmitted, in one form or another, over MediaKind equipment. Whether it’s the encoder that carries the high-value sports content from the source or the edge device that securely receives the content and turns it around in the broadcaster’s studios, MediaKind is there.

An estimated 90% of live professional video watched by end users involves at least one MediaKind device within the video chain. This staggering figure is a testament to the company’s reach and the trust placed in its technology by content creators and distributors worldwide.

MediaKind’s legacy is rich with innovation and a commitment to excellence. They have a long history of deploying large-scale contribution and primary distribution solutions, whether over satellite or over IP. The high-value content is distributed business-to-business (B2B) from content owners or broadcasters to other broadcasters. This process is executed with the highest quality and lowest latency, ensuring that the content is turned around swiftly and sent to the end customer over various platforms, including streaming platforms, YouTube, and other media.

Upon returning to my office, the R&D and support teams were engaged in a discussion with a client, dedicated to delivering the finest customer experience. With the broadcaster pressed for time to activate their feeds, we exerted every effort to confirm that the signals, whether received via SRT or satellite, were of optimal quality and operational prior to the commencement of the event.

Back home, as we cheered for our favorite athletes and teams, it was more than just a game that brought us together; it was the seamless technology provided by MediaKind that allowed us to share these moments simultaneously, irrespective of our physical locations. In a world that is more connected than ever, MediaKind stands out as a unifying force, bringing high-quality, live sports content to millions, and making every game a truly global event.
