At NAB Show 2018, Ericsson Media Solutions demonstrated how it is transforming TV with its innovative end-to-end video delivery solutions by winning three ‘Best of Show’ awards for its MediaFirst Video Processing suite. The company also went on to win an ACE (Awesome Cool Exhibits) Award, presented by NAB for ‘Best Large Island Booth’ in recognition of its innovations in stand design and execution.

Arun Bhikshesvaran, Chief Marketing Officer, Ericsson Media Solutions, said: “This year’s NAB Show was incredibly special as it represented the next step in our journey to become a global leader in media solutions in collaboration with One Equity Partners. The series of award wins coupled with our recent Frost & Sullivan Global Market Leadership Award for our MediaFirst Video Processing Platform is testament to this. These wins demonstrate that the market-leading solutions we envision are truly delivering the best possible media experiences everywhere, for everyone, at every stage of the video journey.”

MediaFirst Encoding Live won a ‘Best of NAB’ award from Streaming Media with its unique implementation of standard dynamic range (SDR) / high dynamic range (HDR) conversion technology. This award honors the best new products that are leading the industry into the future of streaming and is judged by editors and contributors to the publication.

MediaFirst Encoding Live uses real-time intelligent tone mapping algorithms to enable service providers to take control of the display of both SDR and HDR content within the same live broadcast service. This approach empowers service providers to maintain the quality of experience, regardless of the content type, rather than working around the behavior of consumer electronics.

MediaFirst Encoding Live and the SDR/HDR conversion technology was also recognized by NewBay Media in its ‘Best of Show’ awards, which are judged by a panel of engineers and industry experts on the criteria of innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry.

The NewBay Media panel also presented Ericsson Media Solutions with a second ‘Best of Show’ award for its MediaFirst Content Processing solution and its unique implementation of MPEG H for contribution applications.

MediaFirst Content Processing offers a software and application-based design that enables operators to create a multitude of different processing functions and capabilities on a Common Off The Shelf (COTS) platform and cloud-based network.  Its unique implementation of MPEG H in collaboration with Fraunhofer IIS, for contribution applications means that the consumer experience can be enhanced even further by delivering more immersive audio capabilities and differentiating services for TV Service Operators.

At every show, NAB recognizes creative design excellence, the overall visitor experience, product presentations and the quality of booth build with an Awesome Cool Exhibit (ACE) award.  This year, Ericsson Media Solutions was awarded the NAB ACE Award for ‘Best Large Island Booth’.

“We are not just leading the pack with our product portfolio; this ACE Award shows that we are also messaging our portfolio in a way that differentiates us from our competition and serves the needs and interests of our customers. With NAB Show featuring over 1,700 exhibitors, it’s a real honor to receive this accolade for our show booth and further endorses our mission to transform television across the TV and media industry,” concluded Bhikshesvaran.
